11/1/2022 0 Comments Wotja export wav to fileI put xxxx version in project name that I increment very frequently. I just talked myself into doing thisĪll my projects have a "mix" folder, so that I can quickly compare various mixes. Wotja export wav to file archive#Just name the new track the date or number of the mix and then set it to archive in case you need to go back to it later. you just want to keep that version of the mix and archive it inside the project, that would a cool idea. You say, "For serious mastering." I guess a person could technically master with the tracks (no exporting or bouncing), but this would result in a form of mastering that would be considered something other than "serious?" This would make sense, because I found that when inserting the master (ozone in this case) pluggin and then tweaking the settings, I would sometimes (but not always) find myself needing to go back to the mix to adjust either the volumes or eq's of individual tracks. For serious mastering I have my mastering template for doing that. Its nice to preview how things will sound but I don't use it as the finished mastering setup. Just to play devil's advocate -What if you didn't bounce to a track or export as a wave file? Technically, could you utilize Ozone (or other master pluggins) by inserting the pluggin(s) to the master effects bin with the project intact with tracks? What would be the possible drawbacks of doing it this way? When the customer can hear the main master to compare, understands the cost in quality of his choice and can make an better informed decision, and I learnt that this usually results in less pressure to go too hot. And then others as required by the target distribution, trying that quality doesn't compare too bad respect the main one. I always do a main master to 24 bits, using dynamics for quality, not for loudness, although this might be considered an unmastered mix by many. A point where quality suffers, no matter how good your techniques are. Often tonal changes can be minimized using multiband compressors, but to a point. your boss/customer wants it crunched regardless of your advice. Of course unless you have no choice, i.e. IMO, if you don't like the result, either you find a better compression approach, or don't compress so much. > it flattens things out and I don't always like what I end up with Dithering bit depths of 24 or higher does not make an audible difference, although won't harm anything anyway. I only use dithering when exporting to 16 bit. Also, do you dither when bouncing, I dither only once, only the final 16bit wave.
